Q ENERGY France continues its regional development with the opening of a new office in Nantes

Q ENERGY France, a leading player in the renewable energy sector, formerly affiliated with the RES group, is setting up a new office in Nantes and confirming its commitment to the Western region of France. The aim is to be as close as possible to its contacts in the Pays de Loire and Brittany, and to recruit 7 new profiles by the end of the year.

Q ENERGY France has been active for 23 years in the development, construction and operation of onshore and offshore wind and photovoltaic projects and, more recently, in the development of energy storage solutions.

The company, which has opened a new office in Nantes, is currently studying the feasibility of more than 70 MW of new wind power projects in western France. Also positioned in the repowering market, Q ENERGY France wants to make its contribution in Brittany - the 3rd region in France in terms of repowering potential - and is currently working on the renewal of several wind farms for a total of 150 MW.

As for solar energy, the objective is to double the portfolio of projects under exploration to reach more than 200MWp before the end of 2022. It is in this context that Q ENERGY France will launch this year the development of the first agrivoltaic, solar on degraded land and floating solar projects in Brittany and Pays de la Loire.

The company also wants to take advantage of the dynamism of the offshore sector in Nantes to accelerate the growth of its activity, launched with Océole, a partnership set up in 2021 with Equinor and Green Giraffe. From its office in Nantes, the company will be able to prepare for future offshore tenders, ensure proximity to the players in the value chain in Brittany and the Pays de la Loire, while participating in the creation of this new sector (training, industrialisation) with local players (universities, schools, organisations, elected officials).

Francisco Varela, Director of Development at Q ENERGY France, said: "The opening of a new branch in Nantes is a further step in the growth of Q ENERGY in France, which reinforces our desire to work as closely as possible with the regions in the development of our projects. This will accelerate the transition to energy independence, thanks to renewable energy, which is more important than ever in the current context".

Attracting talent

Since the opening on 1st March, the office has been staffed by four people. To develop the Nantes office, Q ENERGY France aims to recruit seven additional talents by the end of the year and around fifteen people by 2025.

As the Pays de la Loire is the leading region for employment in Marine Renewable Energy, the establishment of Q ENERGY France in Nantes will allow the Group to be at the heart of projects but also to recruit new talent to establish itself in the West.
